On Sunday October 6th, the St. Gregory Cultural Committee hosted a presentation by Ara Dinkjian on Armenian-American music and its origins through historical recordings. Ara Dinkjian is an accomplished musician and composer with over 40 years’ experience. He is widely celebrated for his mastery of the oud and other instruments and continues to compose records and perform around the world. His presentation highlighted early musical recordings which influenced Armenian music in the United States. Ara showed how the beauty and resilience of Armenian music has continued, changed and shaped our identity across generations. There was enthusiastic engagement from our church community with over 70 persons in attendance and an interesting question and answer session at the end of the presentation. A delicious luncheon was also served. Many thanks to all who attended and helped to make the afternoon an enjoyable success!
