On Saturday, April 27th, the St. Gregory Women’s Guild hosted a memorable Saintly Women’s Day event, celebrating Saint Hripsime and honoring the ancestral legacy of our members.
The afternoon commenced with a poignant Order of Worship service led by Fr. Mesrob Hovsepyan, featuring readings on Saint Hripsime’s biography and a scripture passage beautifully delivered by Maria Bedonian, Joanne Chitjian, Janet Ozsolak, and Mary Tatarian. Beatrice Postian curated and displayed a remarkable collection of lace, needlework, and artistry—some dating back over a century—contributed by numerous families from our parish. Dawn Papalian eloquently connected the craftsmanship to Saint Hripsime’s legacy, evoking heartfelt emotions as contributors shared stories of learning these crafts from mothers and grandmothers, many of whom endured hardships during the Armenian Genocide in the early 1900s. Alicia Devejian Wood and her daughter Anna compiled a comprehensive pamphlet featuring family contributions and photographs of the displayed pieces.
Attendees cherished the opportunity to bond over shared stories of their beloved ancestors, deeply connecting with the rich heritage showcased at the event.Special appreciation goes to the St. Gregory Women’s Guild Executive Board—Dawn Papalian, Gladys Tachdjian, Rita Kurkjian, Adriane Keleshian Bonfiglio, Maria Bedonian, Sylvia Kruizenga, Alicia Devejian Wood, and Beatrice Postian—for their dedication in organizing this meaningful gathering. Their efforts, along with the delicious and plentiful refreshments provided, made the event truly memorable for all who attended. Photo album link
