110th Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide
April 24th marked a solemn and meaningful occasion as we commemorated the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The morning began with an Armenian flag-raising ceremony held in Greenwich, CT, where we gathered as a community to honor the memory of our ancestors and reflect on the continued relevance of this history.
We were honored to welcome Hagar Chemali, who offered a powerful and insightful speech addressing the Armenian Genocide, the ongoing issues with Azerbaijan, and the broader implications in today’s global context of genocide recognition and prevention.
Following her remarks, Van Krikorian spoke about recent progress in the U.S. Congress and the vital advocacy work of the Armenian Assembly of America.
First Selectman Fred Camillo was then invited to introduce and read a special proclamation issued by the Town of Greenwich in recognition of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
A heartfelt prayer was offered by Fr. Mesrob Hovsepyan, after which the Armenian national anthem played as the Armenian flag was raised in front of the Town Hall—a moving and honorable tribute to those we remember.
This ceremony was not only a memorial, but also a call to continue the work of remembrance, justice, and awareness for future generations.
